Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan Coffee Morning
On Friday 28th September VQ is participating in The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to raise funds for Leeds Macmillan Cancer Support.
As well as the centre’s food retailers, including Harvey Nichols, Opposite Cafe, Bagel Nash & Anthony’s Patisserie, a number of other stores are also taking part including Liz Earle and TM Lewin.
VQ Centre Director John Bade commented, “Macmillan Cancer Support does an incredible job in helping cancer patients and their families cope with their illnesses, obtaining over £3 million in grants & benefits for patients in the Leeds area over the last three years. The Coffee Morning is an excellent way to raise funds for the charity as well as a good excuse to enjoy a coffee and a cake!”
As part of this great fundraising event, VQ has also joined forces with local amateur photographer Nick Hodgson to produce a set of five unique postcards depicting different views of the centre.
“Nick approached us some months ago asking if he could take pictures in the centre early one Sunday morning,” said Mr Bade, “and having seen the excellent quality of his images we thought producing postcards of them would be a great way of supporting Macmillan.”
“Nick’s images perfectly reflect the fantastic Victorian architecture of VQ,” he continued, “and each card will feature a different view of the centre. All proceeds from the sale of the cards will go to Macmillan, along with a percentage of every coffee sold on the morning.”
Additionally, there will also be an opportunity to win a fabulous raffle prize, which includes an Indulgent Treats hamper from Harvey Nichols worth £100, a beautiful Moorcroft Queen Titania vase designed by Rachel Bishop from James Macintyre & Co worth £365, along with VQ Shopping Vouchers and other goodies.
Macmillan Intern Sophie Bambra said:
“We are so grateful to the Victoria Quarter for their fantastic support of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning 2012. We are hoping that this year we can raise more money than ever to help support cancer patients and their families.”
Every day 29 people in West Yorkshire are told they have cancer and 42% of us will receive a cancer diagnosis at some point in our lifetime.

In Leeds Macmillan supports three information centres at St James’s Hospital which all provide expert care and support to patients and their families. This includes the Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre where they can drop in for a drink, some time out, or just a chat. There are also lots of complementary therapies available such as massage and Reiki and all services are free to anyone affected by cancer.

Omega SKYFALL Limited Edition at Berry's

Celebrating the new James Bond film:the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M”SKYFALL” Limited Edition

In SKYFALL, to be released in autumn of 2012, James Bond will take to the screen for the 23rd time with Daniel Craig again assuming the role of the world’s favourite secret agent. And once again, 007 will wear an OMEGA Seamaster.
To celebrate its seventh performance in a supporting role in a Bond film, OMEGA is launching the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M”SKYFALL” Limited Edition watch.

Like every Planet Ocean, the new watch is ready for underwater adventure. Equipped with a unidirectional rotating diving bezel and a helium escape valve, the watch is water resistant 60 bar / 600 metres / 2000 feet.

The watch has a 42 mm brushed and polished stainless steel case and a matching patented screw-and-pin bracelet whose divers’ clasp is engraved with “007”. The rotating diving bezel is distinguished by its matt black ceramic ring with a chromium nitride diving scale.

The applied indexes on the matt structured black dial are coated with white Super-LumiNova emitting a blue light as are the polished, facetted rhodium-plated hands. The exception is the minute hand which emits a green light, as does the dot on the diving bezel. This feature makes it easy for divers to keep track of their time at a glance. At the 7 o’clock position is a 007 logo and at 3 o’clock, there is a date window.

The Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M SKYFALL Limited Edition is powered by OMEGA's exclusive new Co-Axial calibre 8507. SKYFALL 007 is on its rotor in black-varnished engraving. The movement is visible through sapphire crystal in the brushed screw-in caseback.

Along with OMEGA’s industry-changing Co-Axial technology, the watch is equipped with an "Si14" silicon balance spring. The combination is so stable and reliable that the Planet Ocean comes with a full four-year warranty.

The Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M SKYFALL wristwatch is being produced in an edition limited to 5,007 pieces and is delivered in a special presentation box.

Rock It At Pretty Green

Rock It At Pretty Green

Drawing inspiration from the bohemian eccentricity and dandy elegance of The Rolling Stones back in ’71, the latest Autumn arrivals at Pretty Green draw on this theme, stamping a very unique edge on the new season’s collection.

Over forty years ago and exiled in France, the biggest rock band in the world created one of their most infamous albums ‘Exile On Main Street’. The Rolling Stones began to develop a stunning style that evolved during this well documented period. Experimenting musically spilled over into their attire, stamping a very British edge on to their look, combining a bohemian eccentricity with a dandy elegance.

It’s with great Satisfaction that Pretty Green introduces their autumn/winter 2012 collection to The VQ with coveted creations comprising the key elements that embodied the ethos of those legendary days.

A straight talking label dedicated to sharp and stylish dressing, Pretty Green is a fashion clothing brand founded and designed by Liam Gallagher and established in 2009. There are two distinct collections: The Green Label is a focused, casual range dedicated to providing quality, everyday signature pieces, while the Black Label is classic British tailoring, using fine fabric with an innovative attention to detail.

You don’t have to throw a Tumbling Dice to know it’s a winner.

A Win At The Races for Michelsberg Tailoring

A Win At The Races for Michelsberg Tailoring

When it comes to the style stakes, you can bet that Michelsberg Tailoring will be on winning form.
This year Paul Dunphy, Leeds’ very own Gentleman DJ and Broadcaster, was crowned Best Dressed Man at York Races by Designer and Fashion TV presenter Jeff Banks.
Dapper and dandy, Dunphy was decked out in Michelsberg’s finest - a mid weight (11oz) worsted cloth woven in England. The design - a light brown herringbone with an orange over-check. Trimming featured a brown velvet top collar, velvet jetted pockets, and a flash of velvet behind the working cuffs with buttons sewn on in orange thread to complement the orange lining. The vest is a classic single-breasted number with pointed bottoms and the trousers are closely fitted with metal strap and buckle side fasteners, a nifty alternative to belt loops, and with narrow bottoms featuring a velvet welt on the pocket. To complete the look, Dunphy was stylishly shod in shoes by Jeffery West at The VQ.
“What I love about Michelsberg Tailoring is James Michelsberg’s enthusiasm and determination to deliver over and above what one wants and expects”, Paul Dunphy ‘Best Dressed Man’ explains. “From the bespoke experience and his dogged refusal to compromise, and from the very first consultation in his comfortable VQ surroundings, through the numerous fittings, to the delivery of the finished suit, James Michelsberg makes you feel comfortable and entirely individual. His knowledge and love of tailoring is second-to-none and the quality of his suits speak for themselves when you slip them on”.
It’s not the first time that Dunphy has donned Michelsberg Tailoring. Another favourite of the dashing DJ is his stylish black suit, a super 130's cashmere number with one button to fasten and massive peak lapels.
It’s such a winning combination that we just had to broadcast it.
