New Artist: David Porteous-Butler at Affordable Art.

David Porteous-Butler at Affordable Art.
David Porteous-Butler was born in North London in 1945 and his childhood was spent in and around Highgate. He settled in Suffolk in 1978.
David studied in London under the late Sir Kyffin Williams RA and Anthony Green RA before being offered a place at the Royal College of Art. David is truly a protégé of Sir Kyffin Williams RA and remained close to him throughout his life, sharing his fundamental belief that drawing and draughtsmanship are a vital part of the artist’s craft.
Like his mentor, he has a passion for the vitality of the landscape and changing light around him. Suffolk provides much inspiration and the English countryside is a true love, although he has also worked extensively in Southern Europe including time in France and Italy. Working with a limited palette, he is always faithful to the truth in what he sees.
David was one of the artists chosen to paint the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant in 2012 and is currently in Australia working on several commissions including painting the Melbourne Cricket Ground during this winter’s Ashes series.
David’s latest paintings are now on display and can be purchased directly from the gallery or by telephone

Trofimov at Affordable Art

Trofimov at Affordable Art
Oleg Trofimov, Russia’s most famous and celebrated living artist, was born in 1962 in Krasnoarmeisk, Russia.
His style is “Russian realism” which is a combination of traditional realism and impressionism. Russian artists that had a major influence on him were Korovonin, Turjanskiy, Korjev, Stojarov and Ukin. He cites the western artists Van Gogh and Monet as his true inspiration.
In the 90’s Oleg’s work was purchased by practically all of the major Russian banks. Important government officials including Presidents Vladimir Putin, Dmitri Medvedev, Mikhail Gorbachev and the late Boris Yeltsin hold his work in their private collections.
Many stars of Russian entertainment including actors, producers and singers are among collectors of his art. Svetlana Medvedeva, wife of the current Prime Minister and owner of two prestigious art galleries in Moscow and Bruges has purchased 16 of Oleg’s paintings over the past few years.
Moscow’s world famous Tretyakov Art Gallery & Museum has recently purchased several of Oleg’s paintings to archive alongside other Russian masters of the last three centuries.
The paintings of Oleg Trofimov are now on display at Affordable Art and can be purchased directly from the gallery or by telephone.
